Celebrate Dancers and Families,

We are excited to "Celebrate" our 20th year of dancing with a beautiful recital the weekend of May 21st & 22nd! Your dancers have been working hard to finish their recitalroutines, and it has been such a blessing to watch them learn and grow! Please read through the following recital details, and let us know if you have any questions!

Recital Info

This year, CDA will have six recitals that are approximately one hour in length. Most dance classes will only be performing in one show.

Click Here for chart of which recital and dress rehearsal your dancer has been assigned to!

Dress Rehearsals

We will have 6 separate dress rehearsals (two per night) May 18, 19, and 20th. Dress rehearsals provide the only opportunity for dancers to practice their recital dance on stage before they perform in the recital! Dancers should attend their assigned rehearsal wearing their costume and following the hair and makeup guidelines below. Level 4-6 dancers and seniors performing in more than one show should attend BOTH dress rehearsals they are assigned to.

During the dress rehearsal, dancers will be seated in the sanctuary with their class and get to see the other classes perform! As soon as their class is finished, you may leave or choose to stay and watch the rest of the rehearsal. Please limit attending family members to one adult per family. If possible, please leave non-dancing siblings at home.

Tickets

Recital Tickets go on sale May 1st! Due to the shortened length of each show and acknowledging that some families will need to attend more than one recital, ticket prices have been reduced to $10 each. You can purchase tickets any of the following ways:

Each audience member over age three will need a ticket. Wheelchair seating is available, you will see it as an option when purchasing tickets. Any unsold tickets will be available for purchase the day of the recital.

For the safety and comfort of our audience members, an automatic buffer of three seats (6 feet) will be added between every party who purchases tickets. Please note: current state guidelines require that masks or face shields be worn by audience members ages 6+. CDA has the right to modify seating based on CDC guidelines.

Volunteers

Each year at CDA, we rely on the help of many generous volunteers. Whether you are interested in selling flowers or concessions to raise money for our tuition assistance program, or helping backstage as a room monitor... we would love your help! Please be on the lookout for an email with volunteer sign up options.

Hair

To achieve a uniform look and minimize time spent gathering around mirrors, dancers are asked to style their hair the following ways. As always, if your dancer's hair is too short for these styles, please make sure it is pulled out of their face. All "wispy" hair should be tucked in, and bangs should not cover eyes. Boys can style hair as usual.

Ballet ages 7+

All other (non Level) dance styles

Make Up

Makeup is strongly recommended for all dancers in order to not appear "washed out" by the powerful stage lights. Without makeup, it will be difficult to see your dancer's facial features on stage. You can use any brand that you'd like. Please note: if mask mandate is still in place at the time of recitals, lipstick will not be required ;)

Ages 3-12

Pink lips

Pink cheeks

Purple or burgundy eyeshadow

Teen and all Level classes

Red lips (brick red, not orangey or coral)

Pink cheeks

Plum, burgundy, or brown eyeshadow

Eyeliner (optional)

Mascara (optional)

Accessories

Your instructor will let you know during class if she has a specific way for you to wear any accessories (hair clips, etc.)

Masks

At this point, dance performances and recital venues are to require masks for all participants ages 6+. Please plan for your dancer to wear a lightweight, breathable black mask while on stage. These are available at many stores for as little as $1-$2. If the mandate changes between now and May 21st, we will let you know!

Party on the Plaza!

We're going to be celebrating our 20th year in a special way – you are invited to our "Plaza Party" outdoors after each recital. Watch for more information!

Thank you for your continued support over this past year! We truly could not continue without you, and we can't wait to see your dancers shine on stage soon!
